Ukraine usually operates as a cash economy although many places have started to accept charge cards. VISA, MasterCard and EuroCard are the main credit cards accepted in major hotels, upmarket restaurants, casinos, stores, ATM's and other venues, though we recommend the use of credit cards only in reputable locations.
Ukraine is famous for its elevated levels of credit card fraud; visitors should be careful when using Credit Cards or ATM cards, its better have some cash at hand.
Most popular Traveller’s checks in Ukraine are Thomas Cook and Visa. Traveller’s checks and credit cards can be cashed at most banks, a small bank fee is charged. To cash traveller’s checks, the receipt of check's acquisition and passport of check proprietor is requisite.
